CR Chart

like dislike neutral HIS ONLY MAOU

♚ Lord Wolfram von Bielefeld
Murata's partner in Sarcastic Crime. Although they may come from separate medium timelines, it seems like Wolfram hasn't changed at all; he still has that fiery temper and, of course, the utmost concern for Yuuri, and Murata likes that in a person. Murata wants to give Wolfram some time and some space (or lack of space if Yuuri is involved?) so that suddenly being pulled into this world can sink in before he explains everything in detail to Wolfram. Currently, Murata hopes that when he comes home, he doesn't hope to find it as a pile of ashes one day. Otherwise, there might be a funeral planned for Inaba... and maybe for Yuuri. But, he did have a hand in the whole Yuuri + Inaba thing and so if Yuuri needs a meat shield he supposes he'll do his duty as Great Sage and... DAMMIT CAN'T HE JUST RUN AWAY HE DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS!

♚ Saralegui
Murata had a complicated relationship with Saralegui stemming from their different canon points and Murata's inability to be truthful about anything. On the basis that if Saralegui wanted to hurt or kidnap Yuuri, he would have already done so, Murata agreed to have Saralegui live with him, Yuuri and Shinou. While they didn't interact very much, there was no open hostility between them until Theasthai’s Greetings Festival. Murata had assumed the number of Shinzoku between their canon points would have been the same and Saralegui immediately caught on to the different number. At that point, it was obvious that Murata hadn't been very open or honest with Saralegui. Although Murata tried to reconcile, Saralegui seemed angry still and threatened to work alone in order to find a way home. Saralegui left shortly after on Ochta 19, 2016, leaving Murata to assume Saralegui had somehow been successful.

♚ Yuuri Shibuya
Although Murata was Shinou's chief strategist 4,000 years ago, he would much rather play that role to Yuuri. As both of them were born on Earth and have knowledge of the other world as well, they can often relate to each other easily. Their friendship only truly began in their first year of high school after Yuuri saved Murata from a mugging. Murata never forgot Yuuri's courage to do what's right, and has been loyal ever since. Murata isn't always the greatest friend -- he can be mean, passive-aggressive and has a terrible habit of not telling the truth -- but he is truly willing to do whatever it takes to support and protect Yuuri. He's come to learn that the version of Yuuri here in Verens isn't his own, but that doesn't lessen the bond Murata feels toward him. Moreover, he's glad this Yuuri isn't so naive and so it's less likely this Yuuri will get into trouble. Because Yuuri seems interested in Inaba, Murata is being as supportive as he can, although he really wishes Yuuri would pick someone nicer to date.

♚ Shinou
Murata and Shinou certainly got off on the wrong foot, mostly due to the fact that the Shinou that is here and the Shinou that Murata remembers are like night and day. Although it was difficult for Murata to wrap his head around initially, at this point he truly understands that this Shinou isn't the asshole from his own timeline. Even so, Shinou has a way of pushing his buttons and Murata frequently loses patience with the ex-Maou. Over time, it seems that Shinou has come to understand that Murata doesn't consider himself the same person as Shinou's Great Sage, and so Shinou has taken to calling him "Murata" rather than "Daikenja." On the morning of December 25th, they exchanged gifts and he found himself quite surprised that Shinou knew him -- or at least, the other Murata -- so well. Shinou gave him a book of jokes and puns. It was that gift that truly cemented the fact for Murata that Shinou truly understood that he and the Great Sage were two different people.

♕ Ariel
She is apparently a mermaid (as opposed to a maidmer) whose father is so overprotective that he destroyed her collection of human things. Murata finds her to be interesting and appreciates her honesty and her determination to do what she has her heart set on. Ariel is willing to experience the world for herself instead of allowing others to tell her what she should think, which is something that resonates with Murata.
Bianca
Bianca is barely older than he is and already has a lot of accomplishments under her belt! She apparently is a friend to all animals and was willing to bruise her hands to rescue crabs. She seems like a very kind-hearted girl who, while potentially a little naive about the world in general, is fundamentally a good person. He enjoys her company, even if she has a few strange and intimidating animal friends of her own.
Pilouette Bonheur
Although he was only able to have a single conversation with her, Murata took great interest in Pilouette. She seemed so... normal and out of her element. In a way, it was kind of adorable. She seemed so lost when she first arrived in Verens and it seemed that, based on her expression, she was constantly on the border of a nervous breakdown. But she pulled herself together. It was just nice to be around someone who appeared so normal and yet was still able to cope with what was happening.
Jade Curtiss
When Murata interacts with Jade, it feels like he's interacting with himself. Which, if that's true, Murata was very annoying as a child!! Either way, he deeply appreciates the kind of man Jade is. He definitely has his secrets, but as someone with secrets of his own, Murata doesn't want to pry too deeply just yet. After all, if Jade is anything like Murata is, prying for secrets might end up with his own being found out. It is important to note that Jade has bowed out of the "make a spare room into a miniature library" competition, which makes Murata the winner by default. Take that.
Sha Gojyo
Together, Murata and Gojyo deal with the entity that is Shinou. Although they were only properly introduced when Shinou had way too much to drink and Gojyo had to bring him to the apartment, Murata feels like the guy has a level head on his shoulders. He's glad that Gojyo cares enough about Shinou's well-being that he brought him home, even though if it were Murata he would have dumped his ass in the dumpster. Apparently the guy has more patience than he does.
Mikaela Hyakuya
Mikaela made a query as to how one could go about learning how to make curry and so Murata, being a fan of Jennifer's curry, offered to give him the advice. To his surprise, the conversation grew a little deeper than he expected it to. Mikaela seems to be a responsible hard worker, and that's definitely something he can respect. Murata gets the feeling that Mikaela could seriously use a self-esteem boost, especially given how gentle the guy seems to be.
Himeko Inaba
Himeko Inaba, otherwise known as Tsundere-chan. To Murata, she comes off as incredibly prickly; someone who's cold on the outside but capable of quick displays of genuinely warm emotion. Her relationship with Yuuri is something Murata would prefer to stay out of, but he gets what Yuuri sees in her. After all, Yuuri seemed to get along well with Wolfram and Murata's pretty sure the only thing keeping them apart is the whole "ex-prince" instead of "ex-princess" thing. That's why it's no surprise that Inaba, who has a lot of Wolfram's characteristics, is someone Yuuri would be drawn to. Regardless, Murata's main concern with Inaba is that she makes Yuuri happy. If she can do that, then she's perfectly fine.
Alice Margatroid
Although Murata's interaction with Alice was brief, the fact that she apparently came to Verens from a mythological version of Japan was intriguing. She told him that she was essentially a witch (although she apparently prefers to term "magician") and that she gives shelter to the stupid humans who wander into the very clearly dangerous forest. Their interaction was restricted to voice commentary but he has the distinct feeling that she is a human, despite what she says. Or, at the very least, humanoid.
♕ Ionasal
Their relationship has been pretty casual. Ion has admitted to having a case of amnesia (more or less), which is something that Murata can relate to, despite his impeccable memory. She's cute and she's bubbly and she's optimistic. In other words, she has a good energy about her and Murata definitely enjoys her company. And her cooking. She was one of the first people who has invited Murata into her living space and it was nice to get to feel like a normal human being for once! Although she also invited Shinou that day, so minus 10 points. But plus ten points for making curry. And cookies.
Sayaka Miki
After his meeting with Sayaka, Murata has no right to trash talk Flynn's acting. Sayaka posed a hypothetical question and Murata, trying to spare her feelings, pretended to not know it applied to her. He's not sure if she really appreciated it, but he tried.
♕ Krul Tepes
Although Murata never really got a chance to meet her in person, he found Krul to be quite fascinating. She was open about being a vampire and very clear that humans were basically livestock to her. She also made it abundantly clear that vampires "don't feel love." It was an ironic declaration, given that Mikaela, also a vampire, seems to be quite capable of love. So, although he's not sure whether it's true that she doesn't feel love, he has a feeling she might be capable of it. She left Endeca 08, 2017.
♕ Usagi Tsukino
If through some mysterious circumstance Murata was forced to be completely honest with someone in the city who wasn't Shinou or Yuuri, the person he'd go to would be Usagi. In all the time they've known each other, she's proven to be kind, sincere and incredibly patient. She can put up with Shinou, which is saying a lot! And, more importantly, in all the time he's known Usagi she's never made a single judgmental comment. Usagi seems to worry endlessly about everyone, which in itself is a little worrying to Murata, but her heart is always in the right place. Sometimes, when it feels like his burden of being the Great Sage's reincarnation is too much, he likes to imagine how Usagi might react if he told her. Of course, he doesn't have the courage to tell or, or a good reason, but if he did tell her, he's pretty sure she would somehow be completely understanding. Considering the type of person Murata himself is, he's wary that there may be individuals who may take advantage of Usagi. However, he initially thought her to be little more than a blonde ditz and boy did she prove him wrong. So maybe he's not quite worried about her naivety being abused, but still, nice people like her always have it rough. He's also waiting for her to tell her she's royalty. Hop to it.
